My father recently bought me a seicento from his friend whose mum had died (was hers) its V reg, its been on his driveway for a few days and hes turned it over etc and it was fine. However i got it taxed and insured today and upon stopping somewhere it turns over but takes a good few tries to get it to start.

I know nothing about cars, and my father is in ill health so isn't really in a position to mess about with it, does anyone know what it is, or if there's anyone in the merseyside area who could have a look at it?

Many thanks Sarah

oh p.s i have had a seicento before and this one has a little switch just under the radio which my old one never had does anyone know what it is? (its an orange switch i presumed it was something to do with the radio?)

Oh thats brilliant thanks very much i'll ring you over the weekend if thats ok, if this is any help its been sat outside for a few hours and i've just had to nip out and its started 1st time, i stopped to pick up my daughter and it then started on the 3rd time.

Oh i hope its only one of those things! I've had a cinquento = gear box, starter motor went. A V reg Sei i crashed it coming out the hospital from seeing my dad (woman ran into the back they wrote it off) but had new rad and new head gasket week b4 now another v reg sei... I love these cars but i'm wondering now is it worth it, i'm doing nothing but spend spend spend..

My daughter slipped up on a phonecall today so i took it to my dad and he worked out if i dont hit the acelerator when starting it starts 1st time!!

I have no idea how thats so but its worked all day today....

Just turn the key with feet clear of the pedals...

Should start ok even -10C...

It (the dinky computer under bonnet) will take about five seconds to work out what to do, then you put clutch in and 1st gear away into the distance...

Dont thrash it for 5-10 minutes if you can avoid it...

Who told you to touch the accelerator when starting in the first place?

Never ever ever touch it when starting.

The car knows more about the conditions outside than you do.

Works with the accelerator pump on 2CV, floor the pedal twice for -10C, but then start feet of pedals.

Try the 'handle' if nothing works.

Dont think Zassy Sarah knew her little Fiat had a clever little computer on board, she may think it is clockwork.
