hi, I am new to the Seicento forum and am thinking of buying a sporting as a second car. Being female and not very mechanically minded, I am looking for some advice please?

I have seen this one

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...cleYearOfManufacture=2002&vehicleRegLetter=51

and phoned the trader who says in excellent condition. Now I dont think the cambelt has been done and am wondering if it is due? also, do you think the nearside of the car has faded or could it just be pic? if it has, can I just t-cut it back or is this permanent damage? I would also be grateful for any advice as to what to look out for, ie headgasket and also what you think it is worth paying for it?

Main reason I want it as love the look and the lovely webasto roof as sun worshiper :yum:

Any advice much appreicated, thanks

looks good. dont worry about stuff like the head gasket or cam belt both are easy/cheap enough to do.
best thing is to see the car and sniff for a sweet smell from the zorst/cream in the oil cap (little bit is O.K)

if all is good buy it and first thing is drain and back-flush the cooling system and refill with fresh coolant (this should stop the head gasket failing if its all good)
get someone to look at the cam belt but dont really worry about it as it wont do any damage if it goes.

Hi, id be against this car, best try get a standard unmodifiied one, has it been moded due to damage, and being a small car cutting the roof like that is trouble , was never designed to have that much roof taken away, the seicento doesnt have a good crash rating at the best of times, never mind roofless, Great cars but only the standard ones are collectable to enthusiasts. only my opinion , best buy the shumamcher edition, has sun roof,, you could probably get better deal that 1350 private too, i payed 900 for m shuey with 57,ooo miles, although i did replace timing belt, 100 from garage, good luck

Belt change is due at 48K or 4 years, whichever comes first, so its nearly due its second belt.

Use as a bargaining point.

The car is overpriced, but it is at a dealers, so they have to pay VAT and make profit.

Again, its an area for bargaining.

Dig about in the corners of the boot and under the skirts to check for any corrosion.

At the end of the day, the most you can lose is £1300, which is less than you'd lose in the first month of ownership of a new car.

Cheers

So far as I know, Seicentos have no red key - if they blue key has a little '2' on the key, then no red key is needed or came with the car.

Cinquecentos that have blue keys with just the little symbol with no '2' next to it, need a red key

I may be wrong though

I have no red key for my car, and both of my "Blue" keys have that engraving. I think every fiat has the Red key.

Thanks

The Code 2 system does not require a red key. Later Seis have the Code 2 system. Pre Code 2 should have a red key.
