My back box and end pipe on my sporting sei 99' are completely corroded and need replacing. the rest of the exhaust is in prestine condition (between CAT and Back box) Any ideas how much a new standard back box from a garage will set me back? I could get one from the scrappy's but i'd rather have a new one.

I would put a performance one on but im not planning on keeping it for much longer.

Then it wouldn't be a back box, it would be a back pipe, and thats something entirely different.

If it's that simple, hire a welder, make your own.

does no one visit local exhaust places/garages no more and talk to fitters/staff etc, or is that too much effort/petrol/diesel?

33 quid for the back box

I went for a drive round 3-4 garages around by me and the average price i got for a CAT-Back was 160quid that included Kwik Fit and some other less popular back street garages. I know i can get it MUCH cheaper than that elsewhere but not many places are open on a sunday. I am heading over to the powerflow retailer down the road first thing in the morning as they say they can offer a custom built replacement stainless steel exhausts and make them there and then instead of ordering it (because nobody keeps sporting sei exhausts in stock), for much less than an off the shelf equivilant. Sounds like a long shot but i need one fitted by tuesday AM in time for the MOT.
