Hi guy's ..

Just picked up a nice little Cinq 1996 Sporting for our lad , i have drove it a couple of times & have noticed that the petrol seems to slosh out when cornering mainly on left handers .

The petrol tank is only half full , i have looked @ the filler cap & seals & everything seems to be fine

Is this a common problem ? or has anyone else had a similar experience ?

Any advice / thoughts appreciated (y)

have you had a look at the tank seems and all the pipe clamps leading to the fuel tank ?

No i haven't will have a look in a mo (y) 99.9% Sure it's spilling out of the filler cap as you can see where it has run down the paintwork :(

The seals on the petrol cap have failed, common problem on them when they get old, plenty of onfo on it, you can buy a replacement cap or could that was about £5 and you then used your own lock from the old cap, or some dealers don't seem aware of this and only offer a fuel new cap with new lock for more money.

I have an Uno cap on mine, got it for free (Panda ones seem to work too).

If you end up needing a new key for it, two options:
-Have two keys for the car.
-Cut a new codded Fiat key with original "design" cut on one side of the metal and petrol cap key "design" cut on the other*

*if any doubts doing this I can explain better

Not actually true, I bought as said a new cento fuel cap with no lock in it from a Fiat dealer for about £5, all you then had to do was remove the lock from your old cap which involved breaking the plastic cap, and it clicks into place in new one.

Very true... my point is you can get one for free from an Uno (as an example) and then latter cut a doble sidded key for it (or keep it in the ashtray like me :D)

I still have the same problem after fitting a new cap........it still seems to come from the cap.
Is the filler neck bit easy to replace?

If I pull on the cap while locked, I see hardly any movement, if I remove the cap i see that there is a loose metal ring shaped like the fillercaphole.
(sort of like an "s" shape, assymetrical).
It can be moved up and down about an inch or so...can't be good right? :(
