Got a 3 yearold Sei Sporting with Arbarth kit...Boiled over in traffic yesterday..

Reading thro the posts, Im not alone....!!

Anyway, lt it tick over in the drive yesterday, waiting on the fan to kick in, it did'nt.....But the temp warning light came on. When I took it out on the road and swiched the heater on the light soon went out.

Soooo where exactly is the switch that turns on the fan..? In the block, in the rad?? (Will try the switch before replacing the fan!!). Is it easy to change? Anyone got a part number?

Thanks
Ger

looking at the car from the front, the switch is mid way up on the right hand side of the radiator. Not easy to remove, probably have to take the rad out or bumper off.

Easy way to test it, unplug and then bridge the connections on the wire that you unplugged from it. The fan should spin, if it does then you have a faulty swtich, if not then you have a faulty fan.

Switch is around 8quid and fan around 60quid.

hope this helps

Re: Boiling Seicento More (...NO Switch)

OK, just been along to my local Fiat dealer....Seems that I don't have a switch !!! All controlled centrally......His only suggestion, "book it in and we will stick it on the computer"

Any thoughts

Is it an SPI or MPI?

if its the SPI then it has definately got a switch, and its in the radiator on the same side as the pipes

How do I tell SPI\MPI?

Quick check.....Nothing on "pipe" side....what now :bang:

Thermostat seems fine.....Radiator starts cold, then gets hot quickly, indicating that the thermostat has just opened....

Got it booked in tomorrow.....Get it on the main dealer diags....Will report later!

Cheers
Ger

OK....It went to the dealers today...I told them that I thought the fan was knackered...."don't worry Sir we will get it hooked up to the diags and we will soon find out whats wrong. You know it will be £52\hour Sir?"

1 Hour later..."your fans knackered. New one is £102.81 + fitting + diag + VAT, £217.74 to you Sir.......Oh and we don't have one"

Gave then the go ahead,
"hopefully be ready this afternoon Sir".
Just called them, " who told you today Sir? Will take at least 2\3 days, hopefully Friday......"

Or £20 from a scrap yard

Make sure you get the broken fan!!! - and then test it with a 12V battery (mind your hands) to make sure they are not telling porkies.

You sure its not the fuse! - as this what happened to me.

(Fuse in the Engine bay)
