If im not mistaken, i heard that removal of my rear seats in my cinq would affect my handling for the worse, wat i was wondering is as i want to remove them and add some sort of ICE system, is there such a thing as a strut brace for the rear of the car and where could i get one, also would i really need to install it

Cheers

I would of thought u can get a rear brace of some kind........

I would say the best way of finding out about the handling would be take them out and try it! (y)

Ash, the backend is more lose when corning, plus you can also hear the shell creaking at time. I have not seen a rear brace for a cinq, but IIRC James made one for his sei when he went to the York drag strip.

Cheers Dave, dont really fancy any creaking, and i suppose it cant be very healthy hearing the creaks. Ill have to investigate in making a strut brace, or surly with building an ice system where it would be replacing the seats should be sufficient enuf?

Hey Ash,

Ive got my back seats out and an MDF false floor with my sound install on. I havent noticed any difference in handling since i took them out. there is a lot more road noise with them out tho. Ive got the underside of my false floor coated with loft insulation to help dampen the road noise.

Hey Matt, thats sounds good enuf for me, do you hear any creaking sounds? Im used to road noise as it is so that wont be unusual, just turn up the stereo he he.

Right well i better get cracking and produce summit, got some cracking gear to go in it.

The shell is designed to flex slightly. I have a full cage with additional crossbrace and it does make the car tail happy. It can be adjusted with different springs and damper settings, which I have done.

Making up a basic brace between the seat mounts should give the same degree of support as the seats.

Cheers

Silver_Sei has a rear strutbrace that is easily fitted. I'm sure there are pics on here if you search

you do get some creaking - and it made me replace one wheel baring cos of the exta noise. the loft insulation made a huge difference tho - i dont think its much different to pre-seat removal now and i havent noticed much flexing

i've drove my old red cinq without anythin in the back... was well fun, but just a little note.

when u take the seats out u have to put the screws back in, they go all the way through the body work so if u leave them out then u have little holes in the body work, so they would need plugging with something.

and u get a shed load more road noise!

Thought this might be useful for ya.
