At the weekend I changed the alternator and my car seemed to run perfectly until this morning when it would not start.

It cranks but does not fire. This evening on trying it again, it started straight away.

Any ideas what this could be?? Could this be linked to disconnecting the battery?

Thanks,

Alan

Check the wiring, especially down the back of the engine near where you have been working. There's a plug and socket for the crank sensor down there somewhere - you may have disturbed it, or another connection.

I think you may be right about the crank sensor.

It was also very dusty down there from when the old belt was slipping and had left dust on the sensor.

Seems ok now... touch wood.
