Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could help me! my sei failed mot today on brake balance! The rear brake balance was 36% out, the stronger being at the near side! This is the second time it has failed on this and the percentage hasn't changed at all. before putting it in the second time i inspected everything to which i thought could be the problem. I have Checked the rear shoes which are recent, i have adjust the handbrake and checked the elbows. I have bled the system 2 or 3 times just to make sure but it still is the same.

This is the foot brake which is out by the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Shannon

Is there a brake balance compensator fitted?

Something wrong with slave cylinder could cause imbalance or contimination on shoe lining, or damage to drum surfaces..

I think the cinq's and the sei's have a front to rear anti lock (hydraulic) device in both circuits, i.e. left and right, but they are more reliable then the slave cylinders. So 1st port of call is the slaves and the shoes and the drums. One of the slaves will have a frozen cylinder... and you know which side, if so get new cyinder and brake union spanners.

The shows have a rustic self adjusting mechanism reliant on friction...

I'd recommend doing the slaves both sides, getting the unions to undo is sometime difficult...
