Technical Seicento Sporting Fog Lights

I need to remove the offside fog light from my Sei (the one you can't get to the back of cos of the radiator! )

It's held into the surround by one screw - that's knackered!

The surround is held into the bumper by four screws - two of those are knackered!

Is drilling the heads off the screws the only way forward?

yeh, sounds like it to me. you could remove the front bumper to make life a bit easier for you.

yeh, just a few clips and nuts to take off. i always whip it off wen im changing foglight bulbs and cases ect. silly radiator makes it fiddly and i always tend to drop the screws.

Yes use drill in centre of cruciform, the through bolt is about 2mm across the threads.

Other option is pour releasing liquid into the plastic nut holder. When you drill out the head the screw wont move cause the square nut fastner is captive in a cute plastic nut holder (like a plate nut).

Recommend coke (for the phosphoric acid) down each side of lamp as Ive not tried that yet, every thing else has failed...

This plastic holder pools salt water which rots/galls the plated screw, and plated nut. when you put it back drill a hole in the bottom so that it will drain better and use copper loaded grease, on threads.

It is probably better to remove the lamps and store cause they will do less damage if you kerb the front if they are in store... Stick nylon netting over the rear of the bumper, to stop big stones hitting rad

I managed to get the other side one of easily enough (the one you can get to the back of so I know about the screws and clips.

Both fog lights are in very poor condition (all the paint has flaked off the outside and there's a layer of crud on the inside) but I've bought some new bulbs so I might as well fit them.

have you had a go with one of those JML screw extractor things? they worked great on the badly over painted screws on a door we had to take off. I think there 10 quid.

My fogs broke on my Sei so rather than replace I removed the whole plastic grill and meshed the hole. I am really happy with the result and it only cost a tenner.

I'd rather have fully functioning fog lights than get rid of them altogether.

Cinqster, how did you attach/fix the mesh to the bumper?
