Ok, Search facility has failed me on this one,:bang: so i'm hoping someone here knows the answer.
I have the dreaded cinq-boot-drops-on-your-head smptoms of worn out gas struts.
What other vehicles (other than the sei) use the same size & type of boot strut to prop the tailgate open? Since the cinq was designed to be built on the cheap, i can't see fiat not using a standard size off the shelf part.
I know, they are availible on evilbay, but if they are easily harvestable from another possibly non-fiat vehicle in the scrappie's yard, then it may work out cheaper for me.
Any ideas?

Maybe another FIAT? I'm unsure what else uses the same kind of clip. None of mine have let me down yet.............

IF the price you are worry about? am sure i got a pair, why not pm me .

with things like this i don't see the reason in putting into the effort to making some other fit!

i've got a set that are going in the classifieds when i get home, they'll be on for best offer.

Not so much a cost issue, as every time i go past the scrappy's, i see any number of smashed up chav-mobiles. Usually these are highly upgraded vehicles, and in the past we have used them as a source of parts for my dad's rent-a-wreck vauxhall. Since they often have these rather nice chunky aftermarket stuts, i was wondering if any would fit.

Not a problem anyway - now the weather has warmed up, my struts are working again. I'm guessing the heat/cold causing expansion/contraction causes the seals to leak when it's cold, work when it's warm. :bang:
Wonder if it's possible to rebuild them with new seals?:idea:

Can't see it, somehow. How would you get the gas in?
