Its not a problem to me but curious to see what it is on tick over the engine clicks i was just wondering what it is as the engine doesnt tick over without the clicking, is it just wear and tear or is there a way that it could be stopped? As i say its not a problem it just sounds like an old car lol! BTW if its relevant engine has about 58900 miles (claimed) as i dont have full service history for the car i cant be certain if its genuine or been clocked.

Many thanks

Ah okay is it an expensive job to do (my bike Valve checks were £130). Have done valve clearance checks before on my bike but as its a vtwin was an absolute bihatch too do.

Cheers

Only if it is the shims at fault,

The difficult thing is getting the cam shaft cover back on so it does not leak oil after.

If you have to adjust the shims one needs a good micrometer & to work out what thicknesses you are missing, play musical chairs with the ones you have and not a tick after. The shims will ping out you dont need to remove the shaft, easy...

But a tensioner bearing or alternator bearing can tick if a race is damaged, the belt might tick if it interfere with the cover. Stethroscopes are a time saver.

Good point, RC.

Stethescope first.

I can't speak for all V twins, but after doing Ducatis, it's a peice of ****. ;)

Right ok wil start investigating. It should be more straight forward than my bike anyhow.

Dukes probably use common sense when they build their bikes, Suzuki deffinately dont lol! ITs even difficult to change the spark plugs.... the front sparky is behind the rad so you have to drop the rad forward to get to it. Its deffinately not easy on Suzuki V twins lol!
