can some1 please point me in the right direction...many thanks

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

Gives us the tyre profile 175/XX/R13 ?

Also with ET35 (offsrt) you will need 10mm spacers at front.

The information you given about the wheels, all seems perfect for the cinq

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

!0mm spacers at the front, 3mm at the rear should do it. Otherwise, I don't see any problems.

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

Yeah wheels look fine with spacers but the tyres may well need changing to something like 175/50R13

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

The tyres won't fit, they'll need changing to at least a 60 profile, 50 is better.

Cheers

sorry to bother you guys again, but i'm having trouble sourcing tyres...what would be the highest profile i could go without having problems, (scrubbing etc) when dropping it 60mm.
I'm still using 13s (5.5j, ET 35) i found 155/65 R13 73T TW do you think these would be ok?

cheers guys

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

You're probably looking at around 530mm natural diameter, or a little under 100mm of sidewall on a 13" rim or just over 85mm with 14" rims. That gives you 155/65R13 with a H (130mph) speed rating T (118mph) is a notch to low. Personally I'd go for 175/50R13 if you want to keep to 13x5.5j rims, read below if you want to know why.

At 14" 195/45R14 should fit but 185/50R14 however at 540mm will probably become very tight and hard to fit in the arches. I know this doesn't answer your question but I think it will apply to other people doing a search.

Why do you want high profile tyres?

For gear ratio reasons you'll gain virtually nothing in economy, as the engine is under low loads it'll rev freely with smaller throttle openings & thus less fuel. I know the difference between 175/50R13 and 175/50R15 was very little, if anything negative.

If it's for comfort oddly enough a wider slightly lower profile tyre will do you better as the wider tread will tend to soak up the smaller road imperfections better letting the suspension deal with larger imperfections in a more controlled manner. Something like a 205/35 will be to far and you'll have such stiff sidewalls that you'll lose what you gain but something like a 195/45 profile would be a nice compromise.

the lower profile (170/50/13 and 185/50/14) cost a fooking bomb!!! (less common). The higher profile is much much cheaper but they don't fit right so as suggested go for the 175/50/13 mate!

Re: Wrong Size Wheels?

What I have found is: Cheap wheels means expensive tyres. Expensive wheels means cheaper tyres.

I got some 'free' 13" alloys but it was going to cost a 'fortune' to put 4 new tyres on at the right size. I then got some 5.5"x14" wheels and again the tyres were still expensive. I then spent a bit more on 6"x14" wheels (still quite cheap though) and then suddenly the tyres came in at about 40 each. So spending more on alloys can pay in the long run.
