RE: Pressure sensor/switch

Hi guys,

Thanks for everyone who gave me advice on my cinq that was playing up.

Just to update you, it was the Pressure sensor/switch, on the fuel injector system. This can cause the car to under perform, rev low/cut out at about 4,500rpm and play up on cold starting.

If you have any of the syptoms above u may have the same problem, apparntly its very common and a lot of people dont notice it.
The engine management light does not always come on with this fault, mine did because it was so far gone!!!!
It cost me £130 to get it fixed but was well worth it as performance is like new! They also do a bit of fuel pipe changes that will stop the fault reoccuring, the mechanic said it should have been a recall fault as most suffer with it one way or another.

Re: Pressure sensor/switch

MAP sensor failure is fairly common...or at least it seems to be.

£130 is a bit much mind...its a 5min labour job - seriously!!! and £80 tops in parts!!
The problem was due to a design in the 899cc engine that allowed fuel to enter the MAP Line (I had to manually purge mine)- Fiat were aware of this and yu can get a bit to solve it- for £5!!

The prob is because the fuel is injected upstream (before) of the MAP sensorf, and there isnt a oneway valve on that connection. Strangely, they solved it on the Sporting by changing where it takes it vacuum from!!
