Hello,

About a couple of weeks i change my engine (fiat seicento) to an punto gt engine.

Does somebody tried this before, got any tips/pics.

Thx

Bouke

Hello,

i searched a lot on google and fiat forum but i can't find anything about this.

it cost about 2000 euro's so it is not too expansive;)

thx

what is a 16v conversion?

bouke

Fiat SuperFire 1.2 16V engine from the Punto IIRC. A lot of people end up sticking the 1.4 16V later engine in eventually though.

the first is about 80bhp, latter about 100bhp.

but what i do not understand is why a 1.2 16v punto engine does fit but a punto gt engine does not fit. does somebody know?

thx

bouke

The 1.2 and 1.4 FIRE engines are an evolution of the engines that were origionally fitted to cento's so will fit with less work

the Punto GT engine is based on a different older design of engine and is much bigger and heavier so requires cutting the car to make it fit and as it is heavier the car will be front heavy and understeer in corners

I don't see the point in the Punto GT conversion -- if you're going to have to fabricate all the engine mounts there are far better, lighter, more powerful engines out there.............

Do know wich engines? because i only know is the uno turbo and punto engine's

thx

I think a 1.8 K series will fit in there, others have suggested the smaller Honda and Toyota units. All will need either subframing or new engine mounts fabricating, all will need new gearbox linkeages, etc. and their own gearbox, as will the Punto/Uno engines. All will outperform all but the Turbo units...........

But the 1.4 16v from a Stilo (etc) is a much easier prospect.
