hello all , I’m new to this forum but have been reading it for quite a while now so i hope you welcome me with open arms ;) ...I own a 99 fiat seicento sporting

anyway I was driving to the hospital and started hearing a knocking noise and after about 5 mins it just cut out when I stopped at a light ....after not being able to get it going again I pushed it to the side of the road looking like a bit of a dohnut .got green flag out to it and the fella seems to think it’s the oil pump has gone and it has seized ...and he reckons that it might have to be stripped down or get a new engine in it so I was just wondering if any of you boys and girls have had this problem and how much it’s going to hurt the wallet

Cheers (y)

if engine is seized then its a new engine job :( can cost a hell of alot of money at a garage £500+

i had an oil pump pack up on my turbo seicento took out my engine/cam and turbo destroyed everything had to buy new engine and a new turbo.

if your after a nice engine i got a 1108cc cento engine here which has only covered 9400miles cheap cheap lol

well i think that will defo hurt the wallet , anyway i will see what the quote is and go from there (y)

Yes.. sounds like an engine failure, so you will almost certainly need a rebuild of some sort. Check out a replacement motor (change the oil/filter and fit a new oil pump, water pump, cam-belt and tensioner before you install it.. saves doing them later) as the biggest cost with an engine rebuild is labour.

If it takes someone 10 hours to dismantle, check and then re-assemble your donkey, you racked up £500 even without the cost of any parts required.

Second-hand motors though are cheap as chips .. Punto and Cinq'a all use the same beast.

i dont remember any lights coming on to be honest ...it just died on me .yeh i think the engine swap will be the best option so hopefully it wont be mentally expensive ...got my insurance coming up soon too which cost quite a bit so im keeping my fingers crossed
