I know someone on this forum has done it, as I've seen pictures, but who was it that has a picture of their Cinq with the complete Dash taken off?

I'm taking my dash off tomorrow so that I can install my tweeters into the dash and also adapt the standard speaker locations to fit speakers with larger magnets.

Whoever it was that removed their dash I'd be very greatful if you can give me any tips or advice to aid me in the process,a nd also any pictures would be extremley helpfull.

I thought it was Cov69 so I've sent you a PM, but I'm not sure.

I lookforward to hearing from someone.

Thanks very much and wish me luck.

Brian

Well I've read the workshop manual and it doesn't look that hard.

Thanks for the advice, you've pointed out something very useful.
I can just image ending up with loads of cable with connectors on the end and they all look the same and not knowing what each of them do.

I'll let you all know tomorrow night how it goes, thats if I get it back together intime.

Pictures will follow of before and after tweeter instaltion.

ive taken my dash off to install my tft screen in the center heater slots! have you got the haynes manual? if u havent i can scan the pages for ya if you want it isnt too tricky just dont expect to get it all done in a few hours it will take u all day!

VC, Id be very greatful if you would scan those pages in, even if DJ doesnt need them, i need to take part/all of the dash off tomorrow to sort the heating switch... for some reason the switch which selects the level of force the air is blown through, doesnt seem to do anything whatsoever, so off its coming tomorrow to try and rectify this problem.

Also, picture with the TFT in heater slots would be great

Well today was the day, and I decided to got an early start (well an early start for a student anyway) so I was outside at 11:00am and attacking my dash with the spanners.

At about 11:30 Dave (Peaster2k) turned up to lend a helping hand, and at about 2:00pm we had the dash off and in the sitting room, (it was a good job my mum and dad were out all day ;) )

Getting the whole dash out was a complete pain in the backside, the sound proofing had stuck itself to the dash meaning that it wouldn't budge what so ever, and to make matters worse the main wiring loom was wrapped over the heater pipes meaning just about the whole heater had to be dismantled before we could get the dash out. Still it was worth the effort as by 5:00pm both the Kenwood tweeters had been fitted and were looking mighty good.

You might think that 6 hours was a hung amount of time to take over fitting a pair of tweeters but I wanted to make sure everything was just right and I think when people see the install they will agree they look TOP QUALITY.

Pictures will follow, hopefully tomorrow.

Brian

P.S. I'd just like to say a BIG thanks to "VC 1985" for offering to scan in the pages of the workshop manual, that was a really kind offer.
I infact have the workshop manual for the Cinq, so I didn't need the scans, but once again this forum suprises me by the shear kind hearted nature of some of its members. Thanks once again "VC 1985" for a true gentlemen. :)

Right, now you've done it, how hard will it be for me to get to the bit where the heater switch is? i think somethings broken/come disconnected and so the heaters cant be used... a must for this weather, windows steam up soooooo badly at the moment.

Cheers

Once the dash is out you can get to anything you want behind it. Most of the heater is fixed to the car other than the ducting that directs the air around the car. Ghost the refitting is not done, that where the fun comes in. :D:D:D

Refitting :( well I haven't got to that part yet I only managed to get the dash out and the tweeters installed today.

"Adrenaline Junkie" it all depends on where abouts your heater problem lies. you might be able to get away with taking the dial surround off and getting to the heat from there, but I'm affraid all the more complicated and major heater components are behind the dash itself and would require it to be fully removed in order for you to get to them.

Is it the part of the heater that you flick left to right to say where you want the heat to go? if so I think the complete dash will have to be removed I'm affraid.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Well I should be refitting the dash back in the car either tomorrow or Monday, as I've got to have my car back together to be able to go to work on Tuesday night.

Once the dash is back in I'll should be able to give you some pointers to make life a little easier for you.

I'll let you know when its back in, and pictures will also be coming soon.

Im really struggling to do this without the manual.. bugger

Surely if you take off the dash pod and unscrew the two screws above the radio then you'd be able to get to the heater parts you need to fix.
