Hi all,

The outer OS outer cv boot has split on my cinq.

i'm wondering if i was to remove the driveshaft complete with the tripod housing (so as not to disturb the inner cv boot) would all the gearbox oil come out?

Also if i was to use a cv boot tool do i need a stretchy cv boot?

i'd like to avoid taking the outer cv off as i found it difficult with the circlip last time i did it

thanks for any help

James

Assuming its an 1108 you have, and its the short driveshaft, then leave the cup in the gearbox, no oil will then come out.

Remove the inner spider joint, remove the inner CV boot, remove the outer CV boot, and replace from there.

If its the long shaft you have the balance weight to contend with. I don't know whether you could stretch a boot over it, but would presume so.

Cheers

Just take the whole shaft out and do it that way :D, Last time i observed "someone" change it with the shaft on it just looks too hard for me :p

Then might as well just put in new gear oil after it!

ming

ming, when you remove a driveshaft do you untie the inner cv boot and slide the tripod out of the housing, or unbolt the housing from the gearbox and take it off intact? just curious ;)
