Hey, i have a seicento sporting 98 and i am leaking fuel. The fuel tank has had a damp patch on the bottom for about a year but nothing bad, just noticed that it has spread all over the bottom and fuel on the floor. After searching on here read about the recalls and rung fiat they said the work was done in 2005 on the problem, has anyone experienced any reoccurance of the problem before after the work was done?... or could there be another reason?... the petrol is not leaking out the bottom, you can see the dampness as far as you can see up the side of the tank, could it be a seal on a pipe going into the tank? does anyone know where i need to look to find out? cheers

The failure is usually through the seam. So about half way up the tank.

You can check the connections & seal on the top of the tank via the hatch under the back seat.

could be an unrelated problem but reg. this point highlighted you arent alone in regards to the problem re-occuring, you can try again for a new tank, but FIAT are known to not want to play ball a second time, some members have managed it, others have been turned away and had to pay for it

I changed my fuel tank yesterday on my 2001 Mpi and fitted an SPI fuel tank, So can confirm there is no difference physically. Just the price.
I thought about the recall but didn't want to pay the inspection fee of £95 and be told no. fuel tank was only £45.
