Hey guys! Another quick one from me...

Was changing my bulbs yesterday as two had gone out, so i thought i'd do a complete change, and some bulbs didn't appear to work straight away. After closer inspection, noticed there was a lot of oxidation around all the contacts, especially at the front indicators... So i am just wondering what the front indicator contacts are made of, beause if its anything like brass or copper, i could just brasso them! (y)

But any alloy and i could corrode them further i fear...

Thanks again guys

Steve

My fronts indicators tend to fill with water, you dont have a lot of condensation or a high water water line? The fogs are worse, you could keep gold fish.

I'd only clean with rag & meth & then use copper loaded grease, waste putting on brakes much more effective on electric contacts...

That last sentence looks like you've been drinking the meth!

Hi David

My brakes dont tend to squeak so I never bother using copperslip like it says you should do, back plate of pads etc.

All the electrical contacts get it instead, battery lights etc.

Ive terrible trouble with electrical contacts.

Guys... now now :p to the point at hand...!

Well i sorted my rears out by just sanding the contact down with a wire brush.. but i can't get at the contact on the front... Will that stuff work, i have some meth, does no one know what it is made off??

Cotton bud (q tip) soaked in meths will reach bulb contacts and is not going to damage anything, Copper slip is not going to damage, and will stop the metal being exposed to water ingress. if it does not work then you may need to go to breakers or Fiat dealer.

Are you close to the sea front, NaCL spray would be worse...?

Yes Pep i am.. Live pretty much ON it... I live just off the shore in blackpool... (N) There isn't any water getting in there, i havn't seen anything of the sort, i just think who ever replaced the indicator bulbs, bought some real nice ones, because they look like they've been there for a very, VERY long time!

Anyhoo! The cotton bud and meths have it for me! I'll go try it in about an hour or so!

use the missus's nail sanding file thingy.
my other half always loosing hers and she cant figure out whats happening to them.
lol
hope she dont see this post otherwise im dead

Well i got a wire pad and meth, and scrubbed it sticking a cotton bud like Pep said and it worked a treat!

Thanks agaian FF

The salt atmosphere may return the corrosion in no time, all mine are covered in copper slip grease.

I'm tempted to keep the fogs in the boot.
