Its gone cause of them horns :bang:

I knew of the problem so should of got it sorted earlier :(

The ECU was read and it had 4 fault codes

I cant remember all of them but the main one is that it doesnt reconigse the key and wont let them put the code from fiat in that i had to get, but the car can be started and runs via by-passing the immobilser

There not so concerned that it doesnt reconigse the key cause it clearly does, so they now thinking the ECU is fried inside and something called EPROM was mentioned im guessing this is a chip inside ECU, am I right.

So by the sounds of it a costly job, but on the plus side FIAT are offering a part exchange on my knackered ECU, or if the guys mate who i'm using can repair it out it will be done that way.

Gaz will be off the road for a little while, but he will come back healthier and stronger, fingers crossed :D

now that sounds like a pain in the ass! Keep us up to date with how it goes Gaz :)

Gaz you can try out my performance chip if you want, this disables the immobiliser circuit and allows any ECU to work with any key. However after having similar sorts of problems myself (hence the reason for developing the chip in the first place) I would recommend the following action first. (if you havn't done this already).

1. Disconnect the ECU and the immobiliser box (under the steering column behind the fusebox for at least 1 hour.

2. Check the Main loom connection at the front of the engine bay make sure that you don't have any corrosion on the pins. I think this was my main problem and was causing random fault codes that were not clearing down.

If you can get accross to Leicester I will let you borrow a modded ECU to try out

more than welcome to em... they're just sitting there now anyway.
u even get a mains plug too for ur hair curlers ;)
though i tend to find it comes in VERY handy for emergency mobile phone recharge if ur on holiday or something and out and about in the car.

wow i get to use hair curlers, shame i got no hair :(

im considering all my options now, i been told i can get a 'uni chip' whats one of them or a 'powerchip'

im also seriously considering mckrich's offer

;)
*sends subliminal messages thru subway and crunchy nut cornflakes "Buy Ray's carrr..... do ittt.... "*

:D

:worship: please?

hum... lookin at future car... it means my new headunit i bought won't be transferable!! Mofo.. (not you gaz)

preferably after new year so i can get some money first...

i'd rather sell the car as it is.. but i'll consider selling off parts if it comes to it. :(

its not hard to fit.. ISO cable.. ISO aerial connector... and the gearbox sensor and ur done... takes a while to install but its worth it.
i've just left it in the standard sei din slot... u can see it quite well there.

open up ecu check it, if one of these is in it that could be the problem.
