I Have a Seicento sporting 1998 which does a maxium of 64 MPH (fiat say it should be 93 MPH). When i get to 3 1/2 revs it hits 64 MPH if I increase the revs the speed does not change at all.

I think I know what the problem is I just want to know if anyone else works it out.

Thanks

ok... in which gear? - had over a ton out of mine with no problems... on a private road of course ;)

Thats what i think but it been to hundreds of mechanics (other than myself) that do not believe me. i am going to pressure test the clutch this week as i have time off.

Release handbrake on flat, try pushing the car.

Have tried that, i think the clutch is alive because it does not have enough space to fall apart if you get what i mean

If you can detect slip like that I'd suggest it is time to drop the gear box and inspect, you need a mate with car on standby to go to motor factors for parts - as needed.

You dont wand to do more damage.

The mate is useful to help to hold the box steady when you put humpty dumpty back together.

Have got the car ready to go in the workshop but have not got round to taking it apart so to speak,

will probally do it next thursday if i get the chance,

It does not bother me that much tho at least i know im not going to get a instant driving ban for speeding :)

Ironically, mine did this when i got it, and i found it WAS the clutch by sticking a lot of my friends in my car when i was going to a takeaway, and my mate in the front was at myerscough (Car machanics) and he noticed it straight away... So basically, you'll know if its some electronic curruption, because it will still stick at your 'max speed'...

Try it, you never know!!
