I've just bought a new off-side front fog light for my 1999 Seicento Sporting. The glass had broken. The new one comes with a plug on the end of the cable. I removed the old one, but it doesn't seem to just plug in. The two wires disappear inside the body. Am I going to have to cut the wire and splice in the new one?

you may have a fog light from the mpi sei (yours is a 99 so is likely to be a spi), i cant see there being much diffrence but people on ebay do sell them as either the mpi or spi so i guess there is something diffrent. is it possible to just change the glass? failing that, its not too big a deal to cut the plug off your buggred one and join it onto the new one.

It was just advertised as fitting all models 98-01. The new one has a plug, but the old one doesn't appear to just unplug. How do I remove the old one? It must plug in somewhere.

When I changed mine the plug was hooked to the bodywork, and was a bit of a pig to get unhooked if I'm honest. I thought the same as you at first, it might be easier if you jack up that corner of the car and try to follow the cable back with your hand.

It turned out it didn't plug in. It was due a service so I left it to the garage to do. They had to cut the plug off and wire it in.

What does spi/mpi stand for?

fogs are the same IIRC, just located in different places on bumper so what engine and variant it is shouldnt really matter
