Ive a problem. Every time i start my '98 899cc sei a light next to the handbrake light stays on for several secs after engine has fired. Looks like a spark plug[?]. Bought new plugs but to no avail. Also, the cars had 2 alternators an 4 batteries since I had the car (8 weeks!!) its on garage warrenty but that runs out soon. Sometimes the car doesnt like starting, but turns over quickly? Any1 got any ideas on a poss prob cos its really getting me down[V] havin the car at the garage every other week!!!
Cheers

Hi

search this site for

Injection system warning light

there are several "hits" - generally indicating a Lambda sensor problem.

(check out www.lambdasensor.com - insist on a Bosch one)

Also sounds like your garage doesn't know what it's doing, or is just playing for time..

That light you reffering to is the injector light.
It does stay on for 2-3 seconds max after you have started the engine, any longer than this and you may have a problem.
Insist that the garage gets your alternator/battery problem fixed even if the warranty runs out as its an ongoing thing which they have yet to solve.

Cheers guys!!
Timed the light, it is only on for 3 secs, so thats made me feel better!!
As for the garage, heres the things its had done to it in 8 weeks of ownership:
4 Batteries
2 Alternators
New back box
New fuel tank
New alternator belt (the spanner monkeys replaced the first knackered alternator but used the same belt on the second)
ECU re-mounted
New rear wiper motor

I intend to put the garage on the list in the forum, its The Clock Garage, Summercourt, Newquay, Cornwall

Whats the problem a power drain or something??

Just read the "starting probs" post by jonna an it sounds similar to what happens when I start up. The batts been fine for over a week now so i hope the new alternators done the trick! I might have a drain, any1 know of problem areas with draining? Ive got an alarm an head unit but the've both been proffesionally fitted.

Thinking of selling the sei [:0] in favour of something a bit bigger, maybe a VW Vento cos at 6'3" its a bit cramped to drive an rear passengers are prone to DVT in the legs!!!:)
