99% sure headgasket isgone as the engine is lumpy, steam is coming from my exhaust and coolant level has dropped. Two questions to put to you, how much roughly for a garage to fix? (Anyone whos hadit done as search throughs up anything from 150 to 500quid) Secondly are there any good gaskets better than standard? search through up gsr but cant find it on their website. I hope its not going to be any more than 300 quid as i love my little cinq but its already cost me a fortune and if it costs anymore it will have to go :(

I have the manual but not the ability to do it my dad has done the mecanics when i needed a new driveshaft and a new thermostat a while ago he also fitted my sportex twin exhaust when the original went rust, but said this time it will have to go to a garage. Its the 1108 sporting and in imola blue i love it its my baby only done 43000 miles and 9000 of them were me im only the third owner from new and am praying it wont have to be sold.

What am i looking for when bleeding and refilling that it drains again?
I dont really want to drive the car as it sounds dog rough and dont want to damage it too much
Thanks
Rikki

Exhaust same thing happened to me today, garage did compression test and it's thrown up a blown gasket. Told me £370, but they're charging me for the cambelt as a full service rather than doing it while they're there!

Total utter ********. Gonna sell it to a friend hopefully as his uncle can just change the head gasket I'm hoping.

Luke.

You need to find the cause ofthe HG failure, assuming it is that. There is no point in fixing the HG not knowing what caused the failure.

As long as you don't roast the engine no further damage will be done, but you need to know that the water pump, rad, thermostat and or fan are all working properly.

Cheers
