im getting my windows tinted saturday morning!!

Im just wondering how much i should go for? i dont want to get pulled over by the police or anything so how much can i go?

i know a threw people who have had it done MEDIUM.

what have u guys and girls gone up2?

i'm a full time window tinter and if you dont want any probs with the police but still want to go through with getting your fronts tinted go for 35% on all the rear windows and get 50% fitted to the two fronts.

it is light but it'll still look light tinted,my cinq has 50% on the fronts but has 20% on all the rears. the reason i said you should get 35% on the rears is that there isn't a big light/dark difference with a 35/50 split whereas with mine 50/20 there is!!

p.s. dont worry if all these percentage's are confusing,i get this every day, the pro your going to should be able to show you example's of the film i mentioned and should have pics of cars done with various tint levels!

one of my next tint jobs is a pug 306 with light blue chrome film! one of the first in the uk with this new type of imported tint! i'll soon be selling kits of various colours!!!

Ive had it done on my cinq and the car i owned before, and not had a problem wit either. (touch wood)

Basically you can have wat eva percentage you want on the rear window and the rear two side windows, the drivers and passengers door have to be the lightest tint as its the legal requirement that people can see ur face, this is something like 50 or 60%

On my cinq, instead of going from 100% stright to 60, i have it graduated in, basically i got 95% on my rear window, 85% or 80% (cant remember) on the rear side windows and the legal requirement on the front.

If you only want the names and not the percentage, it would dark on the rear, medium on the rear sides and light on the front.

Obviously you cannt tint the front windscreen.

can you actually see out off the car at night? or for that matter can you see out in the day either?

if you go for 20% all round then at night you can still see out but your vision is impaired and it's this kind of stupidity that has brought the new laws in to get the dark tint films of the streets altogether.

stick to light tints on the front and you should be ok but bear this in mind.......

NO TINT ON THE FRONT SIDE WINDOWS ARE LEGAL!!!!!

the only tint that meets the legal requirement is 70% but if you put that onto glass that already has a slight tint in it then it still goes over the legal limit because the tint mixed with the tinted glass takes it below 70%!!!!

stay light and you should be ok.

if you decide to get medium on the fronts then you WILL be caught eventually and possibly fined!

go for 20% then your car can now be impounded and if you do decide to go 'dark' then you get what you deserve

i am likeing the look of PHATASHKI windows though.

so should i go for darker at the rear like 90%, 80% at sides and 60% front?

Yeah, thats wat i think you should go for,

Dark - Medium - Light. It gently fades in without there being a sudden colour change and it still looks dark enough at the back because of the rear window blocking most of the light.

I may have got the percentages wrong by the looks of fimmo's post but basically you want the darkest to lightest.

Before i had mine done i rang the filth to get the actual law. So long as you have two working wing mirrors you can go up to 100% on all the back windows ie behind the B pillar. The ones at the side of you ie behind the A pillar you can go to a maximum of 30% light reduction. It has to let 70% of light through. Bear in mind the glass will already have a slight tint on it already you will have to find some very light tint to be legal on the front

Any one have any ideas of cost? I was thinking about getting my windows done too, but I have no idea as to how much it will cost... Say I wasted Dark rear, then medium on the rear windows.

expect to pay around the £200 mark for all 5 windows done regardless of what level of tint u get done

and u can see quite well out the windows at night and in day... its no-where near as dark as most people think from inside the car unless i've just got used to it.
The tints also help u gettin dazzled from behind by some n00b with incorrectly adjusted headlamps.

i charge £160 for a full tint but up to 200 for a cinq/sei seems right!!

100 % tint is completely clear!!!!!!!!!
5% tint is known as limo black!!!!!
70% is legal on the fronts

b pillar back you can have what you like

so u r sayin that the percentage is the ammount of light the window lets through, and the front side windows have to let at least 70% of the light through?

so i could get 20% on the rear, and 30% on the rear sides, then say 75% on the front sides to make sure!

i quite fancy that blue mirror tint tho (havin a blue car an all) is this more expensive and could i have this all the way round with no problems or does it work on the same principle as the normal tint?

I paid £160 for a full tint of my windows, and that included as well as removing the rear side windows taking the front windows out and fully tinting the whole glass insteat of just wat you see and sliding the tint down between the glass and seal, which some people do.

My last car i had done was £200 but then it had more windows to tint as it had the front corner of the front window seperate and didnt wind down, if ya understand wat i mean.

So id say depending where you live somewhere between £150 and £200 would be a good price, i dont actually think it matters wat percentage you have, it be the same price but different colours will normally change the price. Depends wats more popular or harder to et i suppose

hi, my mate is getting his vectras rears done for 130 quid, and the guy said he could do my seis 3 rears from the off cuts for 20. sound like a bargain. he is getting medium tint.

Its only worth it if the offcuts are window sized......having the tint in more than 1 piece would probably look rubbish

i've gone for limo black all round it makes drivin at night interestin and if u see any piggys have 2 be rather quick on the window button but other than that it all good they don seem 2 bothered newayz as near me they rarley have there tester thingz newayz and if they do just peel it off pay another 6squid (from trade place in birmingham) and do them again the next day
