Hi guys I recently meshed my front bumper and bought some Fiat Black spray paint from Halfrauds and it seems to be a matt paint with no shine to it even after laquer. Can anyone tell me what paint to get that will match the rest of the car?

Cheers, Shakey

Cheers pal I only did 3 coats cus I was spraying over old paint. I will have a go tomorrow at spraying a few more coats and see if it makes a difference.

the lacquer that come's out of a spray tin is very very thin! thats why it takes lots of coats to get it looking good.

when i sprayed my new bonnet vent i primed it then painted it with broom yellow basecoat which has a very matt finish then got my pals at a local bodyshop to give it a coat of 2k (2 pack) lacquer.

it's the kind of lacquer all pro bodyshop's use. 1 coat and it's very very smooth and shiny.

i was going to lacquer the vent myself but i knew what the outcome would be like!

Thanks for the tips everyone :D I think Im gonna get some body filler and smooth the bumper now that I got it meshed should look nice with the area that the rub strips go all filled in and smooth ;)

I finished sanding the filler and its had 2 coats of primer ready for painting in the morning! I'll take some piccies tomorrow :D Meshing the bumper was pretty easy but filling the gaps where the rub strips go and filling the strips which the bonnet covers was a bit of a bastard!

Should look good though when its done and Alex you will hopefully get to have a proper look at it on saturday as im planning on getting to skeggy saturday afternoon and going out on the **** with you lot :D

awesome man.... as i am back to the standard bumper i am either just gonna colour code the strips an air intake things or smooth the strips out, dependin how easy smoothin out it.... remembering i am s**t with body filler hehe

all of the above im gonna do in the next few weeks. i sprayed my boot and it hasnt come out with a shine to it. i put 3 coats on, but it looks lyk i`ll put some more on readin this now. how do the rubstrips come off???? some1 told me there are little screws holdin it on.

Yeah that's right there are about 4 little screws holding each of the rub strips on, you really need to take be bumper off to removed them properly.

Then once they are off you left with a little recess and four little holes that will need to be filled.

Hope that helps.

Colour coding the strips will be alot easier, thats what I did at the back but I think it will look better filled.

Heres a couple of pics I took of the bumper after its been meshed, filled, smoothed and sprayed. Ive also sprayed my washer nozzle, door handles, interior handles & door pockets.
