All of a sudden my cinq now wont let me go into reverse. Its not the inhibitor cable as if you take it out you still cant get it into reverse. And it doesnt go in if the engine is on or off. All other gears work great. Feels as if its the inhibitor cable but not!

Any ideas?

i removed it from tbe gearbox end, so that should rule out the cable. Just going to remove the balljoints now to see if i can put it in by hand. Will let u know how i get on.

Its fixed! Couldnt believe what it was!

Went and pop'd off the ball joints and both the gear box went in by hand and the stick moved to the right position. Then pop'd them back on, and the gear box still went in by hand! So i knew it definetly wasnt the gearbox, thought it must have been one of the selector cables. But then something caught my eye, a pennie had fallen down next to the gear stick and was stopping the cable from moving! Thats all it was! Took it out and now its great again! :)

Great post I had exactly the same problem!
Only it was not a penny but a coin from the supermarket for their trollies.
But thanks to this : solved!
