right, i had to rip the valver out and put the original cinqe engine back in yesterday afternoon as the other half really needs the car this week. problem is when you rev it past 4500 the rev counter goes nuts, bouncing between 4500 and 8000 rpm. the car doesn't miss a beat or hesitate at all. soon as you back off the management light comes on for a few seconds. this is a constant problem. any ideas anyone? thanks.

hi, yes, turned out to be the earth cable that attaches to the side of the head by the coil packs. thread was knackered on the stud so thought it had done up tight but it hadn't. saw it in the dark sparking slightly. all sorted now though. live and learn! cheers everyone!

Nice cheap fix bet you are releived

A couple of years agao i picked up a Shogun Pinin for my mum as a none runner as it was missing like mad and wouldn't rev past 4K, was a bit of a risk

but turned out all that was wrong was the common earth on the head that was loose and has picked up some lovely green corrosion and so had the spark plug tops as a result. 20mins with some wd40 and emmery cloth and it ran like a peach :D
