Here are two projects that I may never get round to doing. Offered here for your contemplation, dilectation and, maybe, fabrication. Both are rear engined. Both involve Centos.

Fiyota

Take one Cinq and one MR2 turbo (they handle, can be made to do in excess of 200mph, and are becoming cheap). Chop the top off a Cinq, the bottom off a MR2. Weld together. Enjoy on a race track or toll motorway near you.

FIAT powered by Duecati (get it?)

Take one Cinq, a weld in roll cage and some big, thin wall CDS square tubing. Add the engines out of two Ducati 888s. Engines drive by chain to a transverse shaft and from there to a LSD equipped (you'll need it) flywheel, clutch and gearbox assembly. Suspension both ends by double wishbones and monoshock suspension (a la Dallara, Megapin, etc.). One engine can be turned off (and the bike box popped into neutral) for shopping trips, while a crafty ledge above the front cylinders provides a handy receptacle for a week's shopping.

A nice 2liter+ sport/tour bike engine would be much better. (powerfull as feck but not all revs like a pure sports bike)
OR twin bmw gs 1200 engines. no need for a chain but might be hard to link them (unless 4wd mewahahah)

hayabusa engine, that not be a better optionS??

Only recommending that because of the mini guys :p

Easier to do, and a well trodden path. End result would have less torque, less capacity, less power (although people have obtained stupid power outputs from those engines for a while) and wouldn't sound like 2 16stone bumble bees flying in close formation. Also, unlikely to be room for the monoshock.

I think if in line 4 was the order of the day, a cheaper and easier alternative would be to pinch the engine and box from a Tomcat (or go FIyota and get the handling straight out of the crate).

Great ideas, but all slightly mad.

Having seen a 1000 cc 2 cylinder BDA in the rear of a Fiat 500 spin in a straight line, no thanks.

Cheers

PD

Ah, that would be this one. Now with a mini engine, but still bloody fast! I love that car! As with the Stratos "He who lifts off, spins!"

Competes in the same series as John (Nitrane) but in a different class.

Blue 2 is daily transport ATM. Due for complete suspension overhaul, ported head, Tricker, etc.

Blue is getting bits made ready for MPI transplant: exhaust (in titanium), plenum chamber, maybe proper manifold, then there's the carbon bits to come. Lots of work, all of it one off, so nowt happens fast.
