Just bought a seicento which has no problems apart from the central brake light, rear wiper and although no totally sure yet it does not appear to have the rear demister working. I have the boot shut totally so dont think it is that. Would like to know if they have a common earth or a common problem with wiring. Also what the connectors on the boot power.

Thanks for any replys

I might be wrong, but I think they're all powered by that bank of connectors on the boot and hatch. I'd make sure the springs are springing and scrub up the contacts with scotchbrite before coating with dear old vaseline. Worth checking the cables where they connect to the connectors, too. I'm pretty sure that one of those is an earth.

Thanks for the reply i have give them a little clean and have been testing them with multimeter. I get no voltage from connector 4 and 5 when pressing the brake however i do get voltage from 2 and 3 which goes off and on with the brake peddle. The problem is the brake lights a definatly wired to 4 and 5. it therefore is leading me to believe there is eirther a short or weird electrical fault or the connectors have been wired wrong. Would be intrested to know how others are wired.

I have had all the connectors out and from what i can gather they must have been wired wrong or are shorting somwhere. Does anyone know what colour wires are meant to be wired to each connector block.

I just spent a while searching for an answer in the Factory Manual. I'm sure the answer is there, but boogered if I can find it. Horrible little symbols and everything is numbered, rather than labelled.

My guess is that it isn't wired wrong -- that would take a pretty deliberate effort and should be obvious enough -- but that the cables are in some way damaged. The rear seat area seems most likely.

An asuto electrician would probably sort it for £20.

Thanks for the reply and looking will have maybe get someone to have a look at a later date as the inner cv boot is first on list to be done. Where abouts does the loom run near the rear seats.
