General yellow dash light

General yellow dash light

lol it is a recangular sort of shape and looks like it has a little line on the left and one on the top of the symbol. this light usually comes on when you put the key in the ignition and goes out when the engine is running

I'm confused, I just got my handbook out and can't figure what symbol you're seeing ... as far as I can see from the book, the one above the temp light is either the oil or the battery. Mind you, this is the book for a Mk1, maybe the Mk2 was different?

possibly different the dashboard layout changed.

does sound like the engine management light from posistion but it is the shape of an engine/engine part with a line through it.

hi mate apologies, I've just seen this thread. if its above the temp light and amber its the engine management light. its rectangular with a line going through it and a line on the left (supposed to look like a fan I think) according to the handbook if its a solid light its "warning of a fuel feed/ignition system failure which may increase emissions in exhaust or cause possible drop in performance. Prolonged use with the warning light on can cause damage".
Check the FAQ's I think its quite a common problem.
