what are the point of these? not only do they appear to be hugely dangerous, but they arent actually that much cheaper than a decent set of lowering springs!

if your going to lower your car, do it properly!

what happened if one of the clamps failed for example? do they not effect 4 coils rather than just the 2 they clamp together?, what stress is the spring under between the 2 clamped coils? etc, to many possibilities for disatser imo unless im missing something hugely obvious, seems a bad way to cut corners for saving very little money, im off to get some lowering springs soon (y)

has anyone used these clamps? there on sale at halfords website anyway, i would never be confident with them on!

I used some years ago, but its not something I would use these days.

To clamp the spring, surely the clamps will bite into the paint of the spring, even the spring metal itself, and that could cause it to break.

Theres potential to cause localised cracking of microstructure I guess, that'll only get worse with time eventually causing a gross failure

Im not sure - but isnt it something to do with binding 2 or more coils together and effectively deactivating them? Hence the spring gets stiffer, lower and effective length gets smaller too
