Re: seicento not firing on 2 and 3 cylinder

It's a wiring fault in the coil circuit. Pull the insulation off, check it visually.

just because there's a problem being flagged with that number - doesn't mean that it's the coil.

Try greasing the contacts with vaseline - if that doesn't work I'd say you need to take back the wiring from that coil all the way to the ecu end of the loom and replace it.

Re: seicento not firing on 2 and 3 cylinder

always handy to have tho - reading around this fault is quite common - the cause can be a faulty coil pack or arcing plug lead - the voltage goes to earth and blows the ECU, apparantly the problem is quite common - just wish i had a diagram showing the ECU pinouts! I have checked the connections and they are all fine - i have attached 2 pics of the ecu - if anyone has this ECU "lying about" with the immobiliser box aswell I would be very interested. Or if somebody knows what pin goes where i can do more fault tracing but without a pin diagram I can only guess.

Re: seicento not firing on 2 and 3 cylinder

You need to replace the ECU. Unfortunataly the HW number is wiped out on your ECU, but since it is a 2001 MPI it most likely has got a HW below 103, which was a problem ECU. The processor corrupts the program and most common fault was not firing coil number 2 (cylinder 2 and 3).

Re: seicento not firing on 2 and 3 cylinder

so presumably the HW number is the HW024?

If so I'm starting to think ECU faults may be what has been causing my weird running....

Should be interesting to see how this turns out.

In fairness if you need a new ecu, there's a place on ebay who do recon units (on the basis that you send yours back to them) - and fairly cheaply at around 100, plug and play, no need for messing with code boxes/keys/etc...

Re: seicento not firing on 2 and 3 cylinder

Hi nokiaman2002

Did you get the problem sorted as I seem to have a very similar problem with the engine warning light and it not firing on all cylinders. Can you give me that guys number or email address for the ECUs.

Regards Nick
