Remove the steering wheel...a lot of swearing removing the steering column. It WILL come out without removing the dash but is a tight fit. Then just stick a NON PAS column in there and bolt it all back up.
Done it myself.

But what about putting a PAS in to one without PAS
Need all the gubbins and the ECU for it as well

You need the ECU, the column and preferably the rack and top mounts.
Plus, some custom wiring and fitting a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). Easiest to put it in place of the mechanical speedo cable and replace the dashboard, to an electronic one.
A fair bit of work
Why would you want to anyway? They are not exactly hard to manage without, and you get a much better response without PAS imho.

Iv driven a MK1 (manual speedo and dash) with power steering and now got one without. When driving the orange wheel wonder, without PAS, it just doesnt look right putting all my effort in to do a 3 point turn or to reverse park....
Do it properly then!!

i doubt it ouputs the correct signal though will do for my car
