my engine is now in bits, just need to arrange to get the head skimmed. ive bought a head gasket set from fiat, but i havent opened it.. i dont wanna start doing that till i need it so it doesnt get crap on it. when you take the coil packs off, there is a rubber o ring on the end of the cam. Does that need replacing everytime, and do i get one with the gasket set.

Also, the timing is going to need setting up again. Could someone give me a run down on how to do this. I would just set the engine to tdc and then wedge the flywheel, but i think the timing is out by a tooth anyway so when the new belt goes on i want to make sure its right.

thanks peoples :)

Yu get ....Seals for Everything!

Head Gasket, Valve Stem oil seals, Thermostat housing seal (Id recommend RTV tho)
With the ORing on the end of the cam- do yu mean the one on the coil pack housing? I would presume that one comes in the Gasket set...I had a few bits left over, like the camshaft drive seal (Thick plastic Seal) and a few small bits that I cba replacing.

To set the timing. rotate the camshaft pulley so the cast mark on the pulley conicides with the centre of triangular notch in the head (abt 9 o'clock), and rotate the crank so that the cast mark coincides with the top ridge on the back of the oil pump cover (abt 10 o'clock)

Surprisngly, Haynes describes it fairly well- I used that method and mine's fine now

The ring on the end of the cam, hmmmm.... Cam seal perhaps. Going off my Honda knowledge. Honda Cams Seals do come part of the gasket kit, not sure of fiats though.

Yeah...cam seal, cheer Rick!

Arc- RTV = Instant Gasket.

Im only saying that as my thermostat leaked after i installed the seal- both of them had previosusly been installed using instant gasket!
