Are the shocks for seicento the same as the ones for punto?

Do they have some sort of a universal catalog number or something so if someone sells shocks, i can know if they can fit a sei, or do i have to look specifically for sei shocks?

Thanks in advance!

I am passively looking for new shocks, and i saw a guy selling lowered punto shocks for a low price, and the guy has a good reputation, so i was wondering if i should get them for my sei.

Do shocks (springs, dampers) have some cat. no. i should be looking for? Are there shocks that are made for other models that can fit the sei without modifications?

Thanks!

No. The only other car's shocks that will fit are off the Cinq. There is no reference number across a range of manufacturers.

Shocks are important, so it's worthwhile spending money and doing research.

It's actually the springs which do the lowering. Don't go lower than 40cm or you'll get stuck on speed bumps.

Maybe i used the wrong term, english isn't my native language. When i say shocks, i mean springs+dampers, and afaik both need to be lowered (springs lowered, dampers shortened/uprated?).

I wanted to go for -30mm or -35mm, and the guy was selling -35s and -40s, so he got my hopes high. So, springs and dampers made for cinqs or seis will fit me, that's a starting point. Can you suggest some manufacturer that is worth looking at?

i just visited their site, not really sure how to navigate around it. They have a lot of types of kits, looking at "modern cars", i see RSX, PSX, VSX, SSX, Krypton and Nitrogen shocks. Any idea which ones i should be looking for? SSX seems to be just the springs, while RSX, PSX and VSX are kits. Nitrogen and Krypton are just the dampers, i suppose they should be used with the SSX springs?

I'm totally confused now as you can see :D

a quick question before i fall asleep here :)
A mate just told me that there is a guy who shortens (not cuts short, more like compresses) the springs (by heating them to high temperatures and doing whatever he does) for ~20 eur per spring. I am a little skeptical about it, and i'm not sure i should play with that, but what do you think?

On the other hand, the apex stuff looks pretty straightforward and safe, but it says it's for a sei sporting? I suppose there shouldn't be much difference, the sporting is almost the same (suspension wise), it just has different wheels and some spacers, right?

And i have to agree that the Spax site is absolutely useless, i could do better than that! "oh, let's make everything in popup windows, people love it and it's also very user friendly!"

Edit: a very important one too. That kit lowers a sei sporting by 30mm. Is the sporting already lowered?

i have a 1.1 sei (hopefully soon to be 1.2 16v ;))
But if the sporting is already 20mm lower, and i get a -30mm for a sporting, will that give me -50mm on a standard sei? Because that would be a tad too much for me. Or is the -30mm in relation to the standard sei, and would lower the sporting by 10mm?

i was thinking about the mechanical brake bias change if the back end gets lower, makes any sense it would activate if i'd lower it? I'm pretty sure i can bypass that system anyway

uh, now i'm confused as well, in either way i might have to jam that mechanism ;)
Oh, we'll see, we'll see, thanks for all the info, 's been helpful

I'll take a peek in the factory manual at the weekend, but I can't see a mechanical one (or a hydraulic one, come to that) reacting to something like ride height, at least, not very much.

Consider that people have lowered Cinqs to lunatic extents and put huge brakes on without ever touching the hydraulic compensator.

So far I've found only this:

the "compensators" (fiat call them brake force distributors) are 3.
