A week ago I bought a 1998 seicento. For as far as I know these cars have galvanised body parts. But I have also seen posts regarding rust in the bonnet / wheel arches in the back.
So I am curious about owners experiences regarding rust on the seicento.
Are there spots to check, does the car rust easily etc ?
Kind regards
Theo

I've yet to see a rusty bonnet.

The usual place for rust is inside the boot, where the floor meets the wheelarch and around the lower rear seatbelt mounting. Once there it can spread.

Some cars rust, some don't. My guess is that some went through the dip so fast that the air never got out completely.

Heard mixed reports myself.

My old sei had quite a few scratches and stuff and none of them ever rusted. Had a tiny bubble on the boot though. Generally though i'd say the Sei's are pretty good, i've never seen a really rusty one. It is true that the body is galvanised, but i'm unsre as to the quality of it on some cars. But i do know some replacement panels are galvanised and some not so it is possible to get a rusty panel. But any car made from stell is liable to get some rust somewhere sometime, its inevitable. You can be sure though that they don't rust like fiats of old ;

Overall, i wouldn't worry about it. Give your car once over if your want, just have a look in usual places you'd expect to find some, arches, boot floor etc. Doubt you'll find much but though tbh.

My '98 Sei needed a bit of welding for its MOT - on the 2 rear inner 1/4 panels (just inside the tailgate on either side).

The first thing you need to check is the fuel tank - see if it has been replaced. They can leak from the seam and mine was replaced FOC last year.
