Hi all,

I have searched but haven't found a topic that quite matched what I typed in so if there is such topic and I've missed it, please accept my apologies and remove this thread.

In my other half's car, when we pull away there is a small noise that increases with the speed of the car coming from behind the speedo clock. Could this be a dodgy speedo cable? and is it easily fixed by replacing it?

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks (y)

what year is the sei?

if its an earlier sei then it is quite possible that the cable could be the problem as the speedo was cable driven.

However there were electronically driven speedos as well, so things might obviously be a bit more complicated should it be a bit later in terms of age of car.

A speedo cable is a fairly cheap fix but the main instrument pod does have to come off, there is a guide on removal ^^^^^up there somewhere.

Even if this doesnt turn out to be the problem as said the part is cheap so you wouldnt be too much out of pocket

Also it may be a one or a two piece speedo cable as well.

More than likely a cable driven one, either way the only way to really know is to take the instrument pod out

ok then thanks for the help, i'll give that a go at the weekend. are there any tell tale signs I should be looking for once I gain access to the back of the pod?
