At long last - the Cinquecento Sporting performance chip is now ready. The chip is available for the Weber/Mareli IAW-16F-ER ECU

Extensive testing in 3 different Cinqs reveal the following features and benefits*:

• Increases torque and power across the whole rev range by an average of about 6%.
• Maximum increase in power of approx. 9% @ 3,000 RPM
• Maximum increase in torque of approx. 8.8% @ 4,500 RPM
• Increases Maximum Power by approx. 3.5%
• Increases Maximum Torque by approx. 6.8%
• Reduces 0-60 time by average of about 1 second [ from 60.05 in 13.3s to 60.125 in 12.4s]
• I think that it slightly decreases fuel consumption - on average my mpg increased from just over 40 to just over 43 over a month on a mix of cross country and fast motorway driving, but to be honest this could be spurious.
• Disables immobiliser circuit; This allows you to fit the chip in any ECU so you can have a separate ECU for track days for example. (Although if you are using it permanently you may want to fit an alternative immobiliser)

(Interestingly this solves the problem of losing the Red Key as any key that fits the steering lock will start the car)

To be entirely honest this chip is not as good as the claimed performance for Superchip™or Starchip™ but then it’s not priced at over £250

*[Test data from 1997 Cinq sporting, standard (apart from Ramair panel filter) 4 runs, 2 in each direction at 10C 1026mb and 78RH. – measured using a Dyno Plus accelerometer and RACE evaluation software. (probably not as accurate as a rolling road but nevertheless a very good indication as a comparison) N.B. Performance improvements will vary dependent on many variables not least the car and the weather for example on a low pressure wet day the improvement seen was only about half that gained on a dry high pressure cool evening]

I'm really happy with the cars performance with the chip It makes the car more drivable, particularly at lower revs where it pulls much stronger (due to the greater torque I presume), it gets rid of the flat spot and improves acceleration considerably. I've recently added further mods to my car [A BMC type induction kit and a Magnex backbox] The chip works great with these mods and still improves the performance further. There was a noticeable difference when I took it out for a while.

The chip is made available for £80, but I must stress that I am not selling the chip you will be joining the development project to further test the programme [all that will be required is a testimonal statement that I can publish].

I'm happy to run before and after performance comparisons with graphs for an additional £40 with no charge if the chip does not increase performance.

I have put a lot of time and effort and a fair bit of money into the project together with a friend who normally charges £800 per day for electronic design work. I have tested it in my own car for three months and it has been fine. It has also been tested for shorter periods of time in two other cinq sportings with absolutely no problems.

The chip is easy to fit providing your existing chip is socketed and not soldered to the ECU board. (I think this is only an issue for late 97 and 98 cars). It takes about 30 minutes to an hour and full fitting instructions will be provided

I must stress that it is important that you make sure that you inform your insurance company and that they will cover you for the Chip Modification.

Anyone who uses the chip does so completely at their own risk I am not a big corporation I cannot guarantee it will not destroy your engine (although I think this is highly unlikely). There is a degree of risk in joining the project, and I need to be sure that everyone is aware of the risk.

What I will do is refund in full anyone who returns the chip within 14 days if they are not happy with it or with being part of the project for any reason.

If you want to use the chip and join the programme send a cheque for £80 to:

Been waiting for this to come to fruition for a while, slightly sceptical but will wait to see what other owners comments are before taking up any offers.

Good work, hope it goes well for you.

301 miles...........some said my Durham trip was madness but I'm unperturbed by the distance so it maybe a possibility.

Thanks for the kind offer.

The ECU on a 1108 sie sporting should be the same you can easily check as it should IAW 16F ER on the stick on top of the ECU.

I hope this helps

'97 Cinq Sporting, Imola Blue, lowered with a few performance mods and a Minidisk/CD system

Got one that will work in the 1242 8v engine?
If so I'm intrested...
Regards,
Matt

I like the idea of:

Full Zorst system
GSR BMC CDA Induction kit
1.2 8v
Gas Flowed Head
Lightened and Balenced Flywheel
6 Speed 'Box

... and eventually the Red'un should be pretty nippy :D ...

IIRC - From a post that Pete (fix it again tomorrow) put up I reckon it will work with the 1242, providing you are still running the original ECU. Pete Runs his 1242 with a 1108 superchip. Anyhow You are welcome to try it out if you are not happy I will refund the price on return.

how much these chips u got jus paid tenner for mine

The chip is nothing like the resistor mods on ebay which is a 10p resistor and does not work.

My chip is a complete engine remap and is now reduced to £40 with full fitting instructions and moneyback guarentee.

Hi

You said it gets rid of the flat spots! Great, is this true, if so im on my way down for one!
