Styling What tyre size?

right mate ive qot 14's on my cinq and have got 185/50/r14 tyres, usually people have 175/50/r14 tyres but they cost about the same (Bloody expensive[V]) and in my oppinion the 185's are bettter because you get a really nice tyre shape, and just make sure that you do not go any bigger than 50 profile otherwise it makes the alloys look crap:p

nah man...... get 195/40

they have a lower profile than both the 185, and 175 tyres and are wider so offer more grip.

ask gaz_wrexham for the web address that sells 194/40/14 tyres, he will kno wat u are goin on about.

www.mytyres.co.uk is a decent website for tyres.

But dont forget that if you bought them from a website you would have to pay extra to get them fitted, normally £5 a tyre.

And mytyres.co.uk arent very speedy, but are quite competitively priced.

I use 185/50 14 Minervas and they cost £39 from a place in warrington

Younger Modder, did you try the place in Warrington for the 185s when you wanted some? Cos i remember you saying you were gona try em... just wanted to know if it worked out...

Well wider tyres look better! :p

There is a certain point where getting wider tyres doesnt have a benefit, but increasing the width to say 185 would have a lot of benefit over the standard width especially if you start to modify the engine and the car gets faster, but its debateable whether there is any benefit in getting 195 over 185.

aight man, here is a run down of size, roling radius, and width for all those tyres!

185/50/14 = 185mm wide, 92.5mm high (50% of 185) makin the whole roling radius = 350mm (14x2.5x10 height of wheel in mm) + 185 (92.5x2 to give total height of tyre wall) = 535mm (total wheel an tyre diameter) / 2 = 267.5mm rolling radius.

185/60/14 = 185mm wide, 111mm high (60% of 185) makin the rolling radius = 350mm + 222mm = 572mm / 2 = 286mm rolling radius

195/45/14 = 195mm wide 87.75mm high (45% of 195) makin the rolling radius = 350mm + 175.5 = 525.5 / 2 = 262.7mm rolling radius

195/40/14 = 195mm wide 78mm high (40% of 195) makin the rolling radius = 350 + 156 = 506 / 2 = 253mm rolling radius.

therefore 195/40 tyres give the most width for better grip, and a lower profile tyre givin less chance of scrubbing/catchin plus the option of more lower and a better lookin wheel (everyone likes low profile tyres)

and they arent much more expensive than the others, maybe 2-3 quid more per tyre!

hope that helps and isnt too confussing! :D

yeh mate i was going to try them but my dad said that warrington is miles away from me so last weekend i brought some Yokahoma A539's 185/50/r14 tyres from my local tyre dealer Saxon Tyres.
Two fully fitted with new valves and fully balanced etc £113 which i dont think is that bad for yoko's and i did notice extra grip
