My 899cc 1993 Cinq smells of petrol whenever it's running, it's ok if the windows are closed though!! Even with the car stationary and the engine idling you can smell it...any ideas?
The engine makes a wonky noise on tickover, if you increase the revs slightly it goes away not sure if it just the noise it makes..??
It's only covered 27000 miles with 1 old lady owner who had new tappets, head gasket and the head skimmed 3000 miles ago by a Fiat agent.

it could be your fuel pump leaking like mine did,

is it leaking petrol from underneath the car, not much, just a little?

lift up you back seats, take off the silver plate, its like 4 x 8mm nuts i think, then turn your engine on (obviously in neautral with handbrake on) then see if its loosing fuel from around the pipes comming out of the tank, if it is, all i needed where two rubber O rings as these had perrished

I just received a Vehicle Safety Recall Notification about Seicento fuel tank leakage. It says they are recalling all early Seicentos to inspect the fuel tank and replace if necessary, free of charge.

Anybody heard anything about this?

Must be recent, the AA only listing two:

New Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, in silver, with options :D

After some searching, it seems the recall was launched 30/04/04

Description : Possibility of fuel leakage from the fuel tank due to corrosion
Remedial Action : Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled, during which time the fuel tank will be inspected for corrosion. Should corrosion be found, the fuel tank will be replaced.
Vehicle Id : ZFA18600000000010 to ZFA18600000368384

Well, I took my Seicento into Thames Fiat, Croydon, this morning for the
pre-booked fuel tank inspection. After I got home they phoned to say that
as they had run out of replacement fuel tanks thay had cancelled all their
Seicento inspections for the rest of the week.
Huh!! Ever heard of forward planning, anyone?
Apparently the problem is that the tank has to be removed for the inspection,
and if it is corroded the removal process will cause it to fall apart.
So I have to wait for the next shipment of tanks from Italy to arrive, and
hope that my tank doesn't fall apart in the meantime. Fingers crossed. :)
