Okay, question time.

I have a 1993-4 (pre March 1994) 899cc Cinquecento. I have been reading through the guide on fitting a rev-counter andhave no problems thus far.

The issue I have is that the speedo set I have fitted as original equipment is the VERY early ones with the big speedo centrally mounted with a max. speed of 100mph. I have a set of Sporting (I believe) clocks which will work, except that the speedo reads 110mph. What would I need to have the Sporting clocks in my vehicle and have the speedo read correctly? Changing speedo cables is no problem as I know I can use the push-on Uno cable which will fit in place of my current screw-on one if required. Mileage is not an issue as I can alter that to suit easily enough.

Do they do a 100mph "later" set of clocks, and if so, which model would I be looking for?

Its nothing to do with the cable, its the gear in the gearbox that drives the cable that might need to be changed. However, the fact that the clock reads to 110 is nothing to do with the calibration of the speedo.

As suggested, pop the other clocks in and check against a measured mile.

Cheers

That is the theory I had. I work mainly with Ford cars, and the speedo is calibrated to its scale, the speedo drive is changed depending on the diff ratio in the gearbox.

I would need to change the cable anyway as my speedo head has a screw-on connection with a 90 degree bend, and the clocks to replace (and apparently all from March 1994 onwards) have clip-on heads. The speedo cable (late and early) for the Cinquecento is supposedly obsolete, so the dealership I use for all my Alfa and Fiat parts in work recommend the Uno cable as it is a suitable replacement, allowing fitment of later clock heads.

Thanks for the help thus far, I will report back accordingly.
