Hi

Was wondering what people thought of this paint job on a Cinq Sporting?
Saw it on a Seat Coupra Racer at Thruxton end of last last summer, looked superb! It was kind of swept back slightly diagonally on the Seat. Iv got some tatty bits and need a new bumper so would have to swap the colours around. Green bonnet and wings, with white doors and red rear and roof.

Is it the devils work?

What colour is your car at the mo?

What about just vinyling it on?

Or buy the relavant bits of scrap yards in the right colour!
lol

Hi all

Drove into a ditch this weekend :( - so will be going for it with the paint.
Wing got smashed in by a hedge! and bonnet needs repaint.

The cars Red, this scheme will allow me to leave the interior red and not look too naff! - Im fed up with non matching red panels!

Done this rally style which takes some bits from the san marino car...appart form the overall colours... Will do it at home with a gun and a huge compressor - so will be cheap - ish, was tempted by some white doors on ebay for 50 quid, but i want to keep the interior red...

watch out!

and incase anyone wants to see any cinq bashing. it was a choice between grassy verge + ditch or skidding head on into a big audi. I was basically driving too fast - ! car is ok apart from bent rear shocker. This is not a good place to put a toe rope... doh!

LOL ooops... sorry to laugh but the pic just looks plain funny :p did the other car stop. as for the paint... i'd b tempted to over lap the paint on the pannels. otherwise it will just look like you have replaced the doors for some reason.

Sorry to hear about your prang, but you seem to have made a mistake in your comments above ....

. I was basically driving too fast - ! [/IMG]

I think thats the first time on Fiat Forum when someone has had an accident and told the truth :D Most other threads it would have been the tyres, or roads fault, or the other driver was on your side etc etc Yawn. Well done for being honest (y)

My son has his cars on pgr4(xbox 360 game) painted in this colour scheme and they look really cool when he is racing against the opposition ,also it is unusual to see which in my opinion is a good thing so you will get noticed , you are half way there already as your car is red so go for it.

but seats are spanish? why the italian flag? and sorry but i did lol a bit at the pic of the crash, only cos it looks like a cartoon crash, just something funny about it. seriously thou hope it all gets fixed for ya ok.

it felt worse than it was! the other driver stopped and when i got out he sped off. audi bully, there was'nt even a ditch on his side! It was my fault tho, had a good kings of leon song on... -

iv decided the cars really well designed as theres no damage underneith - everything is carefully placed, ie brake pipes and bits like that.

Will be buying the paint soon!!

Myself i would do equal join lines, such as dont leave the whole roof red do it red and white to line up with the doors etc

keep your red doors as then you only need to base up the outside skins and laquer just them, also means you can get away with stripping the internals out as you can just put the window down, pull the seal out and then put the window back up and mask that off- colour code the handles while your there think its only 2 screws to remove them and hides the ugliness of them slightly:yuck:

you could do it reasonably cheap if you do it yourself and be sparing with the base coat as its surprisingly expensive of late, also id grey scotch the red and laquer that at the same time as painting the rest so you have equal shine across the car :)

myself id use only 2k as celly/1k is no cheaper and you use far far more of it and end up with a lower quality job for more effort-depends where you plan on spraying it though i suppose, if its on your driveway in the middle of a housing estate then that would be way too risky;):p

the crash pic does look comical, glad you and the car arent damaged, these cars are far stronger than people give them credit for:slayer:

wayne

I think the pic you have put up look awesome with the rally look (y)

Do it :slayer:

Also sorry to hear about the accident but at least your honest and admit fault, its a learning curve, i done similar years ago too :bang:

I remeber there was a similar thread, where the person admitted they were speeding and he got blasted and online lectures were giving left right and centre. and suddenly everyone online were angel and never go above 30mph.

the point is, the honesty should be recognised, and respect for doing so! Hope you get it sorted :)

hi all

Been painting today with help from my brother, not the best time of year but oh well.
The green is a little brighter than i thought! haha
Its not quite the right colour in the photos - as happens with these bright colours... sets off the red nicely

Single pack green paint cost £18

spent about £48 so far... and need a new bottom window seal strip as one broke! Wings are buggers to get off - lucky i was replacing them both!

Will paint doors and roof tomorow before assembly... Taken 2 days so far.

hello mate

i think the green you sprayed on the car is better than what is on the drawing, i look forward to see how it turns out. good luck with the spraying. thats one thing i wish i could do is spray a car.

Yeah keep us up to date. Love that green I reckon it will match perfectly.

At least theres one positive to a paint job like that- you'll get regular mentions on the "Spotted/ Was It You" forum.

One last point; I can't say I'm an expert but I agree with craigb244 the paint needs some overlap on the panels, i.e. dont just have one colour for bonnet & front another for doors etc. otherwise it will just look like you smashed up your car and couldnt find matching replacement panels.

love that crash picture and it's nice to know they're strong cars and come out with little damage after minor crashes.

Best of Luck

This is taking a lot longer than I thought! The cars previously been repainted in non standard red - not quite a match for 112 starter red, so there was no choice!

tomorow we will hopefully finish the doors and start re-assembly with some nice new bolts. got hinges and mirrors to paint after that.

I think white mirrors rather than green or red? any thoughts? looking from the front, white mirrors would look cool.
