Ok so I had my MOT yesterday, and it failed on a few things. The most confusing to me is that the front headlight beams are too high. I understand that in some cars you have a switch inside that adjusts this, but I dont so how have they gotten too high, and how is that fixed??
Secondly was that the front drivers side brake is binding, I didnt really understand what this meant, so nayone explanations and possiblilities why would be great.
Also it failed on parking brake, as it was lower than required, I had it tightened about 6 minths ago and the guy did say something about it, although what he said I cant remember as my partner picked the car up, I think it was about the pads being worn or something, are these simple to change?
Just wondering how much it's going to set my back as the MOT man was useless and foreign and no idea what he was saying.
Thank you.

What does the failure sheet say?

The headlamp aim too high can really only be adjusted by a garage with the right equipment: not a huge job.

Binding brake is usually down to a piston or arm sticking in the caliper itself. Not a huge or difficult job, but you need to know what you're doing. You might try getting a caliper from a scrappy and changing the pads (both sides).

As for the handbrake, there's a lot of stuff in the FAQ (or guides -- can't remember which).

Ok, that's good then, I thought the headlights would just stay the same height (Shows how little I know).
My friend will hopefully know how to do the brakes.
Just want it to be as cheap as possible (as everyone does I'm sure), their was an advisory note about the front brake hoses being deterioated, I dont know if that could affect the brake binding?
