Can the plastic linkage sockets be removed without breaking them? I have a worn one on my car and a good one on a spare linkage that I would like to swap for it. Are replacement items fitted differently to factory fitted ones perhaps?

BTW:
Felt sure this would be in the archives, but am unable to narrow results for efficient research as keywords in the search box are always treated as an "or" rather than "and". Very frustrating. Am I missing something here?

I'm not referring to the swivel out type, that would be too easy! I think they must be the squeeze and pop type then. The plastic isn't very squeezable. Tried squeezing one of the broken ones and it pretty quickly caved in. Can't remove the remainder of it with the grip I can get on it. Seems hard, brittle plastic (possibly got that way with age of course). I have to ask myself whether we are talking about the same thing, so I've attached a photo of one.

This type does not have a lug, I promise. I have attached a picture to show the bottom of the part, to show no damage.

The part appears to be a single moulding with a healthy 3mm lip over the circumference of the hole; pretty sure the plastic won't distort enough to remove with a squeeze. I thought it could be a one off, hence I went to the scrap yard earlier and got exactly the same thing on that Cinqucento. The hole is a red herring in this case!

Complete red herring indeed. I've just taken one to bits to find out how it works, and I think its moulded in there. Its the same arm as the swivel one, the jagged hole is pressed in it too. I am guessing its the whole arm that needs replacing, not just the socket.

Cheers
