hw do u take the gear knob off a fiat seicento ive had a go at twisting and pulling and its just not budging at all any ideas ? cheers xx

As brooky said theres a guide with pics, but you have to hacksaw it off, however the OMP adaptor has apparently ceased being made for these cars, you need this to be able to select reverse.

Weather there is an alternative being made i dont know so dont go sharpening the hacksaw blade till you have got all the bits needed.

You don't actually need the OMP bit.

I have an alloy (gear) knob and I made my own adaptor. The knob doesn't have to move, the sleeve does, and the knob is large enough to hold the sleeve in place.

So, lop the appropriate amount off the top of the sleeve to allow the new knob to fit, and when you want reverse, don't use the knob, use the sleeve.

Lots of knob talk here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

I have an adaptor and currently doing nitranes conversion. How does having the sleeve not attached to the nob affect auto testing David?? as i will be looking into that kind of competition when mines done.....and the only autotesting ive seen they were reversing for about half the course.

it wouldnt matter but i would make sure its chunky for your hand grip.
i had an aftermarket gearknob on the NA cinq and all i did was leave a gap below the gearknob base with a cable tie to spce it.
i then just manually pushed the gearshaft assembly down to select reverse

I put an additional knob under the alloy knob. Its a little bit fatter and is easy to get at when reversing required. Remember mine is a six speed so the gaps between the gear selectors are quite small.
