New Car Few Lil Issues

Hi, The misses has just bought a P reg Cinquecento 1.1 sporting and we are having a few issue with it.

1.The battery light comes on everytime the car is started and either dims or goes completely out when you rev it/drive- the alternator was replaced in dec 2006 according to reciepts with car and battery was changed last week for brand new one from halfords.

2.We have found an advisory notice about the N/S/F CV BOOT JOINT, what is this and how easy/expensive is it to replace or fix.

3.The misses is quite short and finds it hard to reach the pedals comfortably- is it possible to alter the pedal height etc for all the pedals and again how expensive/easy is it.

Many Thanks
Dan

Re: New Car Few Lil Issues

firstly i would suggest that maybe there is a fault withc the alternator.

secondly i dont think the boot joints are expensive to replace.

thirdly i wouldnt think it is a possibility to alter the height of the pedals but someone here might know better

stick a multimeter across the batt terminals and with the engine runnin you want to be exspecting about 14.2-14.8 volts even on idle, the light coming on is there to tell you there is a chrging fault so the alternator could be at faultor a bad connection!
the gator is a dust cover for the Constant Velocity joint on the driveshaft there also to keep grease in there not hard to replace but you would need to have a tool to slide the new gator on unless the joint detaches.and the part is not exspensive hop this helps

i fit these alot at work and have found them to be very bad , great to get you home etc but we have stopped using them due to the fact that the glue doesnt hold well enough

Its easy enough to pop the CV joint off to do the job properly.

Cheers

Re: New Car Few Lil Issues

the alternator belt might just need tightenin even with no squeel it could still be loose or there could be some grease on the pulley stoppin the belt from grippin worth a check really.

The pedals dont really adjust like the ways you wish it to, suppose you can get aftermarket pedals which will make it a bit bigger and a bit easier to reach, however if im honest the missus shouldve gone on the test drive with you if she didnt, because the car doesnt sound like its particularly compatible for her and can see her not getting on with the car sadly.

Have you tried the adjusting the seat as best you can

Re: New Car Few Lil Issues

It's possible that the smaller of the red wires out of the back of the alternator isn't making good contact. This would account for the light going on and off (as, of course, could a naff alternator).

Replacing the boot shouldn't cost much at all. New boot and proper clips (not tie wraps!)

Aftermarket pedals may help, but my 5 foot 1 ex had no problems. With the seat adjusted for her, I couldn't get in the driving seat!

It may be possible to re-drill the seat runner mounts to allow the seats to move an extra bit forward.
