Looking good there...

Dave, yes, thats what I was thinking re the mesh, but I just got a bit confused when I came to considering how to do it

95 Cinq Sporting - Rattly GrpN Catback Exhaust, Buckets and 3pt Harnesses,Sexy VW styleé dials (that look great, but dont work!! :)D)), 10" Sub and 6x9's, ETech Wing. Lots of Dirt!
1242cc Engine in car, not starting, boot delock soon, K+N still in garage!

I was wondering whether anybody could help me. I have just bought a Cinq Sporting and I bought a momo gear knob. So I went to change the gear knob on my Cinq then the knob wouldnt come off so I hacked it off, to find that there is a smaller plastic gear knob shaped part at the top of the gear knob.
Is there anyway of still puttin another aftermarket gear knob on? Because I know lift-up reverse gear knobs have a wider hole, would that work? Or would I have to cut off the top of the gear shaft?

Do a search as there is an adaptor from OMP that is made for Cinq/Seis but you need to use an OMP gear knob with it.

Aaron.

Thanks for replying J333EVO but I do not understand wot you mean. Where would the adapter go?

Does anyone know whether the metal gear shaft inside of the plastic shaft goes all the way to the top of the plastic? Because then you could just hack the top of the plastic shaft off and then put a, for instance, momo universal gear knob on the metal shaft and tighten it?

no mate cause the metal bit has to slide up when u push the gear knob down.

basically you have to saw off the old one, screw this adapter onto the plastic gear stick, then screw the OMP gear knob on top of the adapter so it is attached to the plastic and the metal bar can slide up into it when u put it into reverse.

the adapter does actually come with pretty good instructions (y)

Thanks for clearin that up Mase. Does anyone know where to get these OMP adaptors? Cos I searched on google and I cant find them.

Has everyone else done the same, gettin a OMP adaptor? Or is there another way which is cheaper or summin?

this OMP gear knob adapter is the only non custom way of goin about it, and u can only fit OMP gear knobs to it as they are the only ones with the matchin thread size!

adapters can be found here: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=76_77&products_id=328

and that website also sells that gear knobs which fit as well (y)

Cheers Mase & Ghost. At least I can now buy & fit a gear knob, cos I bought a Momo Cobra one expecting it to fit cos I hadnt heard any problems with gear sticks so I hacked the rubber gear knob off to find that it doesnt fit!

Do you know any other gear knobs that fit the adaptor cos the ones on rallydesign.co.uk arent really what im looking for, i need a black and chrome one really?
