Hey people, another newbie here!! :) Currently a mini owner but starting to get a bit fed up of using it as my daily drive so thinking of selling up. Been a fan of cento's for a few years now, allways fancied a Cinq Sporting in Black but couldn't really affoard one when i was 18 (2000) ;)) I've receantly refound cento's, obviously I've moved on from when I was last into them and prices have dropped and I know reckon a Seicento Sporting could be within my reach!! I've allways liked Sei's but back when I was 18 they were far too pricey for a kid at school!! :p

I've searched around to see whats available out there and have come across a Sei Sporting at a local garage. It's not my number one choice colour (black) but it is my second favourate, silver. The car is a 1998 Sporting, 56,000 miles, full fiat service history. It's describe on autotader as being in very good condition. Had a look at it this morning as I was close by, the garage was shut but I could see it thru the fence!! :p It looked in pretty much all round good nick, the two tyres I could see had loadsa tread left and everything seemed straight about it, However it did have a dent just infront of the drivers door on the front wing. It wasn't a big dent, looks like it's been shot with an air gun. The price is £2195 with 12 months test, 6 months tax and 12 months parts/labour warrenty.

I'm going to take a look when the garage is open on tuesday (my next day off). Can anyone do me a huge favour and chuck me a link or let me know what the spec is of a standard '98 sporting (i.e what toys etc...) so I can check to see if they work. Also anyone out there give me some advice on where to check especially and what sort of things should have been done or would need to be done in the near future service wise.

I'll get back to you with my findings!! :D

Matt:)

My Cinq Sporting pretty much does exclusively motorway driving in the uni term. Its alright up to 90! I crusise abt 75 because otherwise the petrol drinking gets silly.

Also, my left leg tends to cramp from no use after a bit. but thats just annoying!

95 Cinq Sporting - Rattly GrpN Catback Exhaust, Buckets and 3pt Harnesses,Sexy VW styleé dials (that look great, but dont work!! :)D)), 10" Sub and 6x9's, ETech Wing. Lots of Dirt!
1242cc Engine in car, not starting, boot delock soon, K+N still in garage!

i dont tend to do motorway miles but when i do i do lots off them i did 800 miles one weekend and i felt totally comfortable and safe.

i also cruise at around 75-80mph, just too save petrol and give myself a relaxing drive

Cheers, one of the reasons for me changing car is because i really could do with summit that can handle the m'way miles better than my mini with 10" wheels, 4,500 RPM at 70 mph.....noisey!!! Shakes above 80mph too! :p I'm up in the north east and during term time my girly is down in London.

Yeah once the clock reaches 100 the car starts to take off a bit but otherwise it's ok - and I found that when I got my powerflow exhaust done it halved the petrol consumption on the motorway (not quite sure about the physics on that one!)

cant have halved it can it? excuse to get a powerflow done :D (anyone know the theory behind it possibly halving it? so i can present argument to parents :p)

Abarth Kitted Cinq Sporting, New lil siggy pic coming soon, till then.... not much really lol

Right, just got back from taking a look at this '98 sporting. Looks pretty good, everything seems pretty straight and sound. Body is spot on apart from the "dint" on the front wing which on closer inspection is just a chip in the paint. No sign of accident damage anywhere, had the boot carpet up and it's all straight. Full size spare with brand new tyre. Speaking of tyres they all look to have very good tread (mind you I would be changing them for 15"s!!). Interior wise it had a few scuffs on the seats but i guess it is a 6 year old 56,000 mile car, electric windows work fine, tried all the knobs and buttons, all fine except the boot release which doesn't open the boot. Engine sounds absolutly spot on, no nasty smoking on start up.

Basically a pretty sound impressive car I thought, comes with 12 months test, 6 months tax and 1 years parts/labour warrenty. Only niggling thing in my mind is the price. It's up for £2195, he said he'd knock £100 off but I reckon I could get him down to £2000. I've seen 1998 Sportings for a fair bit less than £2000, but this does look a pukka car with full service history.

What you lot think??

Just remembered it had the red and the blue keys too!!

Bit concerned, just checked the book sale price (trade) for a 98 sporting with 60,000 miles this has 56,000. £1590, this place wants £2195, thats a big difference. It's a good car so would expect it to maybe be slightly over book, but over £600 seems steep!

Trust me a cinq's fuel consumption is NEVER silly. That's one thing I miss about the cinq, put a tenners worth of petrol in and forget about it. Even flooring it on the motorway didn't bother the fuel gauge.

My new car however, put a tenner in it, the gauge hardly twitches. Floor it out the petrol station then get ready to do a U-turn back to the petrol station [xx(]

Used to own a Red Cinq Sporting Abarth 1242.
