hiya wen i get to 60 the car starts shaking and you carnt stop it and at 80 you just have no control and at 100 its that bad there are noises coming from the back like tapping i thought at first my tracking was out but its fine any ideas why and what to do??

Steering rack loose? Wheels not tightened?

In this order (more or less):

Loose rear wheel(s)
Loose rear hub nut
Rear wheel bearings completely knackered
Rear suspension arm bushes completely knackered

Front wheels need balacing (can seem as though the car is loose at the back)

All this is assuming you've got the standard wheels, etc.

i advise if you have no control at 80 not to go to 100!

Wheels need balancing and worn/useless shock absorbers.

Now, as to what to do.

If there's a local garage you trust, run it into them. Just get them to look at the rear end.

If there isn't, take it into KwikFit, ask them to balance the fronts, but mention the other handling issues. Chances are they'll take a look at it for free, which will give you some idea of what's up.

It could be that there's someone here who could swing by and take a peek, too.

Next step, if you're prepared to get your hands dirty, is to get a Haynes manual (Halfords usually have them in) and borrow some tools.

None of the jobs suggested so far are beyond the amateur.

wheels are not loose, and have correct tyre pressure in them and yes they are standard wheels, but my suspension does not feel right when i go over speed bumps they bang so think i will have to get them looked at im goin to take it to my local garage to let them find the problem

Could well be the shocks or training arm bushes.

Does sound like the rear trailing are bushes are completely shot.

With strange wobbles, also check the tyres carefully, you can get strange bulges and deformations in the tyres. My rear tyres developed strange bulges in the tread and it was like driving on square wheels!

Your tyres need balancing and one or both of the trailing arm bushes are knacked.

when i put my alloys on, i had the same problem. got them rebalanced and its pretty much solved it

Check the wheels are not buckled, i had a buckled one and it killed a brand new rear bearing within a week.

Also had the wheel bolts come loose on one rear wheel....was giving it a reet good thrashing in the hills, went round a corner and a rumbling started and got prity bad, finished the corner then pulled over to sort

Knocks over bumps could be duff shock,wheel bearing or bush. Ive had all

I had this problem at 60mph but it was all sorted once i had the wheels tracked and balanced. there's still a very slight shake at 70ish but it's no where near as bad as it was.

How much did it cost to get it sorted out?

I had 2 new tyres put on at the same time but tracking is usually no more than 25 quid. try get them to check the balancing for free while you're there.

A tyre depot can check and rebalance for a few quids.. £20-30 for the whole lot.. maybe less if you smile a lot at the Herbert doing the work..

hello again i went to my local car garage and he had a llok for me, the problem is my 2 front shokers have seezed so i need 2 new ones and also i need a rear gear box mount, they gaveme a price for my shockers it would be £164.50 inc vat they carnt give me a price for my gear box mount because they crnt find one any where and have told me to go to the scrappy for one, is that price reasonable or should i pay £40 for 2 at the scrappy
